Today we resurrect our long-dormant "Which celebrity's house is this?" feature, where we spotlight a property that recently sold that we believe was purchased by a celebrity whom we are unable to identify. We usually come to this conclusion because the property was purchased by a whimsically named trust (almost always in the Los Angeles area), and because the money manager's name on the deed is one normally associated with other celebrities.
Today's installment involves the three-bedroom, 2,642-square-foot house on a rectangular-shaped, 5.005-acre tract at 261 Powderhorn Ranch Road in Los Angeles County's unincorporated Topanga area, way up in the wilderness above Malibu. The reason we believe a celeb bought this is because the money manager whose name is on the deed is that of Carolyn Rossip Malcolm. Ms. Malcolm has represented many other celebrities over the years in their property transactions, including Ethan Hawke, Lisa Loeb, Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly, and David Duchovny and Tea Leoni. Records show that something called the Petra II Trust, which has owned scattered other properties in the L.A. area over the years, closed on the purchase on May 6, with the deal being recorded on May 26.
Built in 1951 and originally listed for $3,125,000, the house is described in listing information as a "mid-century modern architectural home" (whatever that means). Features include two baths, wide-open views, a private patio, a pool, a detached artist's studio, riding and boarding areas, and a "true indoor/outdoor California feel," according to listing information.
So dear readers, we ask you as we always do: which celebrity purchased the house and property at 261 Powderhorn Ranch Road in Topanga?
