Today's installment of our "Where in the world is...?" feature involves Tears for Fears frontman Roland Orzabal, a native Brit whose assimilation to the U.S. truly became complete, we'd say, when federal election records showed that he donated money to 2004 presidential candidate Dick Gephardt.

And Orzabal's longtime ownership of a 4,266-square-foot house in Nichols Canyon in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills never has been written about by any celebrity real estate gossip -- at least, that is, not until now. Last August, Orzabal, 47, even put the house up for lease for $15,900 a month (we didn't know about it at that time, but we generally avoid writing about rentals anyhow), billing the property as a "hip celebrity estate on a quiet cul-de-sac in Nichols Canyon."

Built in 1960, Orzabal's house has either four bedrooms and four and a half baths (according to listing information) or six bedrooms and four baths (according to public records). Feature in the house include open-plan public rooms with two-story walls of glass, a mezzanine media room with spiral stairs to a rooftop deck, a workout studio, a large dining room, a library/fifth bedroom, and a master suite with a sauna, walk-in closet and balcony, according to listing information. Outdoor features on the 0.16-acre (6,996-square-foot) lot include an outdoor living room with a fire pit and a professionally landscaped pool and garden, according to public records and listing information.

It's unclear to us precisely when Orzabal purchased the property; the public-records databases that we have access to show conflicting data (either 1994 or 2003). But regardless, records show that the purchase price for the home was $1,675,000.

We should note here that our freqent and loyal commenter tlp333 posted a satellite image of Orzabal's house to Virtual Globetrotting last April.
