Actor Corey Reynolds, who plays Sgt. David Gabriel on TNT’s “The Closer,” has paid $854,000 for a four-bedroom, 1,864-square-foot house in the Franklin Hills area of Hollywood, Calif., according to public records and the Los Angeles Times (LA Times).

Contrary to the Times’ reporting, Reynolds’ $854,000 purchase price for the house, at 1865 Talmdage Street, was not especially “close to its $949,000 asking price.” Features in the house, which was built in 1937 and had been recently remodeled, include hardwood and travertine floors, stainless steel kitchen appliances and tumbled-tile counters, the paper reported.

Also in Los Angeles, the Times has reported that the Beaux Arts mansion once owned by Dorothy Chandler of the Chandler newspaper family has sold for about $8.6 million, far above the typical sale price for that area.

The 9,059-square-foot house at 455 Lorraine Blvd., which Chandler lived in until her death in 1997 at age 96, is six blocks west of the a nine-bedroom, 15,110-square-foot house owned by Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith at 611 S. Muirfield Road (and is not, as the Times reported, “down the street”). The former Chandler mansion also is just two blocks from the mansion owned by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Rehabbers Tim Corrigan and Kathleen Scheinfeld restored the six-bedroom Chandler mansion, which was built in 1913 and has a guesthouse and a pool, all on a 0.83-acre lot, according to public records. Corrigan and Scheinfeld bought the mansion in 1997 from the Chandler family for $2.025 million, and not for the $2.25 million figure that the Times reported.
