Rock 'n' roll guitarist Slash has placed his five-bedroom, 5,539-square-foot mansion in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills on the market for $6,995,000.

As has been the case with several other items today, we offer a hat tip to the Real Estalker for her fine coverage of the item late last month.

Born Saul Hudson, Slash, 41, has owned a variety of L.A.-area properties over the years. It probably would take too much time and space to write about them all, but we should note that one significant one was the 11,012-square-foot, 1929 mansion at 801 N. Roxbury Drive in Beverly Hills, which Slash sold in June 2000 to then-husband and wife Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie's Benjamin Franklin Trust for just under $3.8 million, according to a Los Angeles Times article at the time. Thornton took full ownership of the house after the couple's divorce, and the actor today owns it through his Bob Wire Trust, according to public records.

Up in the Hollywood Hills, Slash quietly paid $6,250,000 in December 2005 for the Spanish-style mansion, which he placed on the market on May 24. Built in 2002 and situated on a 1.76-acre promontory at the end of a private, gated road, the house has six and a half baths, city and ocean views, a walled courtyard, indoor and outdoor living rooms with fireplaces, a chef's kitchen, a media/billiards room, a separate gym, a separate guesthouse with a bath, and a master suite with its own private patio and fireplace, according to listing information.

Among the other properties Slash currently owns is a six-bedroom, 5,980-square-foot house at 14246 Valley Vista Boulevard in the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles, which he purchased in 2002 for $2.15 million, and which has been on the market in the past. His living situation seems very fluid right now, in part because he appears to be in the middle of a divorce from second wife Perla, a former Hustler model whom he married in 2000. Perla and Slash have two sons, London Hudson and Cash Hudson. Slash filed for divorce a little more than a year ago.

We'll keep you posted on where Slash ends up--and how much he sells this house for.
