The six-bedroom, Malibu, Calif. estate that once was owned by rocker Sammy Hagar is on the market for $10.5 million or for rent at $35,000 a month.
Hagar, 59, sold the estate, at 31740 Broad Beach Road in Malibu, to its current owner in 1994 for $1,550,000 when he got divorced, according to public records. Now, in a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report that its owner, who bought it as a weekend retreat, according to a 1994 Los Angeles Times article, is looking to put another family in the house, either temporarily or permanently.
Built in 1981, the 4,779-square-foot house sits on about a quarter-acre and has a formal dining room, a sunken bar, a library, a country kitchen with a breakfast area, and a master suite with a steam shower, a sauna and an oceanfront deck, according to public records and listing information. Other features include coastline views, Nantucket gardens, a private, tree-covered stairway to a sandy beach, and parking behind gates for nine cars, according to listing information. After selling the house, Hagar moved to northern California, where he now lives in a six-bedroom house in Mill Valley. Hagar also owns a condo in Palm Desert, Calif. Interestingly, the house is next door to the 4,676-square-foot house that Hagar’s onetime bandmate and fellow rocker, Eddie Van Halen, owns through his Carvin Trust. Van Halen purchased that house in 1994 for an undisclosed amount, according to public records.
