Rocker Glenn Frey has paid $7,750,000 for a six-bedroom, approximately 4,400-square-foot estate in Hana, Hawaii, on Kauai.

In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on Frey's purchase of the property in Hana, which sits either on 'nearly 5 acres,' according to listing information, or on 5.1 acres, according to public records. Indeed, records show that Frey's trust closed on the purchase on August 1, with the deed being recorded on August 11.

The gated estate, at the end of a long road, had been listed for $8,800,000. Built in 1986, the property's main, five-bedroom, contemporary-style house has five baths, a rock waterfall in the living room, a fireplace, maid's quarters, and a screened lanai room with a Jacuzzi spa, according to public records and listing information. Outside on the property is a one-bedroom, one-bath cottage by a stream, storage buildings, and a garage near the beach, according to listing information. This isn't the first property that Frey has ever owned in Hawaii. He also long has owned a house on a 3.7-acre property in Haleiwa, Hawaii, in Honolulu County, according to public records.

And Frey, who's obviously flush with funds after years of success (particularly in touring) with the Eagles, has owned lots of properties over the years in southern California, Colorado, and Florida over the years. These include: --his current, 8,188-square-foot mansion in Los Angeles, Brentwood area, which Frey's trust purchased for exactly $10,000,000 in 2002, according to public records. The Los Angeles Times' Ruth Ryon wrote about this purchase back on February 24, 2002, although Ryon's typically uninformed, published guess on how much the house sold for meant that she erroneously reported that it had sold for 'about its asking price of $10.5 million.' --the 5,686-square-foot house in Los Angeles' Brentwood area, which Frey's trust purchased in April 1996 for an undisclosed price and sold in May 2002, also for an undisclosed price (though north of $3 million, we'd assume).

This house was featured in House and Garden in 2000. --the 2,296-square-foot house at in Santa Monica, Calif., which Frey's trust sold in March 1997 for $990,000, according to public records. --a 5,026-square-foot ski retreat on exactly 4 acres in Snowmass, Col. that Frey has long owned, according to public records. That house is said to have been the inspiration for his 1992 single 'River of Dreams.' --a house in La Quinta, Calif. (near Palm Springs), although it's not clear to us in looking at Riverside County records if Frey still owns that house. --a condominium unit at in Ft. Myers, Fla., which Frey sold in October 2001 for $137,000, according to public records. We would direct your attention to the classic video for Frey's song 'Smuggler's Blues,' in which Frey acts as well.
