Rock drummer Matt Sorum -- once of Guns N' Roses and now of the Velvet Revolver -- has placed his four-bedroom house in the Bird Streets area of Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills area on the market for $2,975,000.
We are truly the last to the party on this one, but we wanted to get to it before the listing got too stale (perhaps that's not much of a worry in this market!). Our friends over at the Real Estalker broke the story back on January 22 of Sorum's listing of the house. And then, the Los Angeles Times' Ann Brenoff wrote last week about Sorum's listing. And we wrote about this house back in December 2006, after Sorum purchased it for $2,575,000.
Built in 1960, Sorum's house measures either 2,395 square feet (according to public records) or 2,450 square feet (according to listing information). The house has three baths, maple hardwood floors, an open floor plan, a Control4 entertainment system, three crushed glass fireplaces, a kitchen with custom granite and professional stainless steel appliances, cathedral ceilings, a great room and a large living room, according to listing information. Outdoor features on the 0.47-acre (20,566-square-foot or 20,592-square-foot) lot include a pool and a resort-like pool area with an outdoor kitchen, according to public records and listing information.
Sorum's house is of course in a star-studded neighborhood. It sits on the same block as (and just three lots away from) the 2,903-square-foot Hollywood Hills house that actress Jennifer Aniston has owned forever (OK, since 1995), but that she has rented out since before her marriage to Brad Pitt.
It's unclear why Sorum is selling. As we noted back in December 2006, Sorum owns a 3,966-square-foot, multiunit (duplex) building in Los Angeles that he purchased in 2003 from comedian Andy Dick. However, he won't be moving there, we don't think. We will keep you posted.
