New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady and his current squeeze, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, reportedly have paid $11,750,000 for a 3.6-acre vacant lot in the same guard-gated neighborhood in Los Angeles' Brentwood area -- and on the same street -- where Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's house is. \ The good people at TMZ.com broke the story yesterday morning of Brady's purchase of the lot, which is at 12780 Chalon Road in the gated Brentwood Country Estates section of Brentwood, for something above $11,000,000. The news is so fresh, in fact, that the public records databases that we have access to do not yet show that a deal has closed on the property -- much less a sale price -- although we have no reason to doubt TMZ's crack research. And then, our friends over at the Real Estalker today reported that Brady and Bundchen actually paid $11,750,000 for the lot, which had been on the market for $12,900,000. We would never doubt Your Mama's sources at the Real Estalker, but we can note that the mortgage math fits perfectly; TMZ claimed to have unearthed records of a Tom/Gisele mortgage for $8,225,000, and with an $11,750,000 sale price, that would translate into Tom and Gisele putting down exactly 30 percent of the purchase price. Features on the lot, which until now had been owned by a non-celebrity couple (Robert and Diane Saltzman) from the nearby Pacific Palisades area who had purchased it in January 2005 for $6,750,000, include a 1.6-acre pad, views of the ocean, the coastline, the city and surrounding canyons, and plans for an 11,500-square-foot Mediterranean-style mansion that had been prepared by award-winning architect Bing Hu, according to public records and listing information. TMZ reported that there were plans for a 20,000-square-foot mansion; like the Real Estalker, we're a bit befuddled by that assertion, since listing information plainly states that the plans for a house (which we have pictured here) were for an 11,500-square-foot mansion. Check out online listing sheets for the lot, here, and here. As we have noted many times in the past (and the Real Estalker provided an excellent summary today), Tom and Gisele have had quite the real-estate odyssey in the last few years, with the following known transactions: --Gisele selling her 3,679-square-foot house at 1415 Devlin Drive off Los Angeles' Sunset Strip for $3,980,000 last year to film director Luc Besson; --Brady originally renting out and now listing his three-bedroom, 2,910-square-foot unit in the north tower of the Time Warner Center in New York City, which as the Real Estalker noted and as the Wall Street Journal reported a few weeks ago, currently is on the market for $18,290,000; --Brady selling his 3,412-square-foot condo at 314 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston's Back Bay area early this year for $5,285,000; --Gisele recently re-listing her 1,704-square-foot triplex penthouse at 374 West 11th Street in Manhattan's West Village for $5,900,000, as the Journal also recently reported, after it previously had been listed for $10,900,000 and later reduced to $9,200,000.
