Talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey has the final condominium unit that she owns on Fisher Island, Fla. on the market for $2,090,000. If we wanted to, we probably could write a daily blog entirely about Oprah's vast real-estate empire, given how many properties she owns and given how frequently she changes her mind about her desire to own various properties. In any case, today's installment follows up on an item broken by our pals over at the Real Estalker, who wrote on June 22 about Oprah listing the last of the five units that she once owned on Fisher Island, a high-security, 216-acre private island three miles off the shore of Miami. Years ago -- long before she owned her monstrous estate in Montecito, Calif. or her sprawling estate in Maui, Oprah had two dwellings when she wasn't in Chicago (and it's true that she isn't in Chicago often): 1) her farm in Indiana (which she since has sold; we should note that some readers confuse her weird ownership of a single-family house at 5585 Jackson Street in Merrillville, in Northwest Indiana with her long-ago ownership of a 164-acre farm at 9252 North County Road 600 East in Rolling Prairie, Ind., in LaPorte County, which she sold in late 2004 for developer Fred Latsko); and 2) a cluster of condominium units on Fisher Island, Fla. Now, Oprah has listed the last of the five units -- a two-bedroom, 1,838-square-foot unit at 19243 Fisher Island Drive in the Seaside condo development. Features in the unit include two baths, a balcony, high ceilings, custom wood built-ins, and two parking spaces, according to listing information. Oprah purchased the unit in 1996 for $660,000, according to public records. Check out an online listing sheet for the unit at 19243 Fisher Island Drive -- complete with photos. Back in a previous life as the weekly 'Upper Bracket' columnist in the Sunday Chicago Tribune, we chronicled Oprah's property ownership on a regular basis -- including the sales of those other units on Fisher Island. Here's a quick rundown of the other units she had owned and sold, and when: --An 860-square-foot condo unit at 15812 Fisher Island Drive that Oprah purchased from her personal trainer, Bob Greene, for $900,000 in early 2000, according to public records. (Greene had purchased the unit in 1996 for $685,000, according to public records.) Oprah's Phoenix Investment Trust quietly sold that unit in early 2002 for $1,075,000, according to public records. Jordache co-founder Joe Nakash now owns this unit, according to public records. --A 428-square-foot condo unit at 41216 Fisher Island Drive in the Marina Village condo development on the island that she purchased in November 1998 for $172,500 and that her OW Inc. company sold in the summer of 2001 for $220,000, according to public records. --A 2,916-square-foot condo unit at 19145 Fisher Island Drive in the Seaside condo development that Oprah's OW Inc. company sold in early 2001 for $1,950,000 to former Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers (and later Memphis Grizzlies) head coach Mike Fratello (who later sold it). She had purchased that condo unit from buyout specialist Michael Dubilier in 1997 for $1,250,000, according to public records. --A 465-square-foot condo unit at 41222 Fisher Island Drive in the Marina Village condo development that Oprah's OW Inc. company sold for $206,000 in early 2001, according to public records. Her OW Inc. company had purchased that unit in 1996 for $135,000 Plenty of other celebrities have owned on Fisher Island over the years, including Mel Brooks, Boris Becker and actress Sharon Gless, who has owned a 2,744-square-foot unit at 2311 Fisher Island Drive in the Bayside Village complex since buying it in 1995 for $850,000, according to public records. In December 2006, we wrote what at that time was the most comprehensive list of all of Oprah's properties. There have been a number of changes since, and we've discussed some of them, including on February 12 and more recently on July 7.
