A renovated, 2,753-square-foot Cape Cod-style house in Beverly Hills, Calif. that the late actor Darren McGavin had owned until selling it just before his death in early 2006 has come on the market for $2,795,000.
In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on the listing of the house at 1129 Benedict Canyon Drive in Beverly Hills, which came on the market on Monday, May 25.
Built in 1923, the four-bedroom house was owned by McGavin from at least 1980 (and perhaps even 1971) until he sold it for $1,400,000 in mid-2004 -- about a year after his wife had died (McGavin himself had been in failing health for years). The agent for the property also is its owner; he and his wife purchased it from McGavin. Features in the house include five and a half baths, a designer-done kitchen, bathrooms with new fixtures and appliances, four bedroom suites (two up and two down), a den/media room, and a master suite with a rooftop sun deck, according to listing information.
Outdoor features on the walled 0.11-acre (4,779-square-foot) property, which is one of the smaller parcels we've ever run across in the Los Angeles area (and whose agent bills it as a "mini-compound"), include a small pool and a brick patio, according to public records and listing information.
