The purchase price for the gated English Cotswold-style Tudor house in Los Angeles’ East Hollywood neighborhood that actress Kirstie Alley purchased on March 8 as an office finally has become available.
In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can reveal that Alley paid exactly $700,000, and not the “about $749,000” amount that the Los Angeles Times’ Ruth Ryon had reported last month, for the three-bedroom house, according to public records. We first wrote about Alley’s purchase on May 20, shortly after the Times’ own report appeared on the purchase.
Built in 1925, Alley’s recently restored, 1,288-square-foot house, at 1163 N. Kenmore Avenue, has three baths, flush-mounted speakers in all rooms with separate volume controls, a plasma hookup in the living room with surround sound, all-matching English doorknobs and plates, etched bronze window pulls, stained glass, hardwood, custom solid cherry cabinets, stainless steel appliances and hexagon marble in the master bath, according to listing information. Other features include recessed low-voltage lighting, a hot tub and a vintage clawfoot tub, according to listing information.
The house originally had been listed for $779,000 and later was reduced to $759,000, according to listing information.
The Times had reported last month that Alley would use the house as an office and “perhaps as living quarters for her assistants.” As we noted on May 20, Alley herself lives in a 6,958-square-foot house in the nearby Los Feliz neighborhood, which she purchased in 2000 for $2,998,000, according to public records.
