Rap star Kanye West has paid close to $7.2 million, according to the Los Angeles Times, to purchase a six-bedroom, 3,299-square-foot house in the flats of Beverly Hills, Calif. In a somewhat unusual move for major celebrities in this day and age, the Chicago native actually purchased the house, at 631 N. Crescent Drive in Beverly Hills, in his own name. The final sale price for the house, which had been listed for $7,499,000, is not yet available in public records, so we can't yet independently confirm the Times' report of West's house closing for "close to $7.2 million." When those records do become available in the next few weeks, we'll make sure to provide you with the house's final sale price. Built in 1921, the two-story house has four baths, sits on close to an acre and was placed on the market for the first time in close to 45 years, according to listing information. Unfortunately, the listing sheets for the house with any kind of decent images already have been pulled down from the Internet. The closest image can be found if you go to this cached web page and scroll down. As for the house itself, sans photos, check out a cached version of its listing sheet here. Listing information shows that West's new house previously had been listed for $8,499,000. Check out the Times' story on West's purchase here.
