DJ and record producer Paul Oakenfold has placed on the market his home on a street 1980s full of rock-and-rollers in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills overlooking the Hollywood Bowl for $10,000,000.

Our friends over at the Real Estalker broke the story on Monday of Oakenfold's listing of his four-bedroom, 4,573-square-foot house at 6901 Oporto Drive in the Hollywood Hills. We're huge fans of Oakenfold, particularly of this song and video of his catchy and eminently danceable track Starry Eyed Surprise. Built in 1949, Oakenfold's French Provencal-style house on Oporto Drive has six baths, a recording studio (naturally), a formal dining room, offices, a gourmet kitchen, a loft, a huge living room, and a master suite with a fireplace overlooking the city, according to listing information. Outside on the 0.27-acre property are expansive patios, a grassy lawn, a pool, a spa, and bleachers to watch the Hollywood Bowl, according to public records and listing information. Records show that Oakenfold, 44, had purchased the house in 2003 for $2,350,000.

Oakenfold has owned other L.A.-area property over the years. In 2006, Oakenfold sold his house at 2500 Jupiter Drive in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills for $2,275,000, according to public records. He had owned the house (which measures 3,895 square feet, according to public records, or 5,000 square feet, according to listing information) since buying it for an undisclosed price in March 2002. However, Oakenfold had never moved in to the Jupiter Drive home, reported the Los Angeles Times' Ruth Ryon in a Hot Property column that appeared on May 21, 2006 (link not available online).

Oakenfold is not the only music-industry figure living in his neighborhood – or even on his street. Duran Duran bassist John Taylor owns the 6,282-square-foot house at 6950 Oporto Drive, which he purchased in September 1999 for $2,000,000, according to public records. And since 1997, R.E.M.'s Mike Mills has owned the 2,885-square-foot house next door to Oakenfold, at 6909 Oporto Drive, according to public records. Mills had purchased that house for $888,000, according to public records. Check out an online listing sheet complete with photos of Oakenfold's house here.
