Heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio has sold a three-bedroom, 1,981-square-foot house in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills for $1,110,000.

In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on the sale of the house, which Dio had owned since 1988, according to public records.

Dio, 64, has performed with Black Sabbath, Rainbow, and his own band, Dio. Those of us who were in high school in the 1980s will vividly recall various burnouts and stoners wearing their Dio T-shirts on days when they weren't wearing Iron Maiden shirts, Quiet Riot gear or Poison sweatshirts.

Dio long has owned several houses in the L.A. area, and public records show that he continues to own three other properties in the region.

"The house that Dio sold, at 3633 Lankershim Boulevard in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, was built in 1945, according to public records. Features in the house, which had been listed for $1,500,000, include a spacious formal dining room, a master suite with views and beamed ceilings, balconies, a deck, a garden patio, and a pool, according to listing information. Other features include three air-conditioning systems and top-of-the-line appliances, according to listing information.

There's some disagreement on the exact size of the house that Dio sold. Public records state that it has three bedrooms and 1,981 square feet, while listing information states that it has four bedrooms and 2,500 square feet.

Dio had purchased that house in 1988 for $440,000, according to public records.

The other three L.A.-area properties that Dio owns are:

--A two-bedroom, 1,470-square-foot house in the Tarzana area of Los Angeles that he purchased in 1980 for $137,000, according to public records;

--A two-bedroom, 1,604-square-foot house in the Valley Village neighborhood that he purchased in 1985 for $309,000, according to public records;

--And a four-bedroom, 3334-square-foot house in L.A.'s Studio City neighborhood that he purchased in 1989 for $365,000, according to public records.

Also, just over a year ago, Dio sold a 5,057-square-foot house at 4634 Encino Avenue in the Encino area of Los Angeles for an undisclosed price, according to public records.
