A Beverly Hills, Calif. house where actresses Rita Hayworth and Jean Harlow once lived is on the market for $4,299,000.

Located at 512 N. Palm Drive in Beverly Hills, the house was the residence that Harlow was renting at the time of her death in 1937. Hayworth owned the house in the 1950s. Built in 1928 and measuring 4,426 square feet, the five-bedroom, Spanish-style house has five and a half baths, vintage ironwork, stained glass, a Juliet balcony, a grand living room with beamed ceilings, according to public records and the listing sheet. Other features include a spacious family room with an original bar from the Golden Age of Hollywood, a large deck, a pool, a spa, a two-story guesthouse, a formal dining room and a gourmet kitchen, according to listing information.

The house also is two doors down from the house at 508 N. Palm Drive, where Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio lived during their marriage. It’s also about two blocks south of the 9,335-square-foot mansion that “American Idol” creator and judge Simon Cowell quietly bought in September 2004 for exactly $8 million. Other media reports erroneously have reported that Cowell had paid $7.2 million for that house, at 717 N. Palm Drive. Instead, we can report definitively that Cowell paid $8 million for the six-bedroom house, which was built in 1985.
