TV talk show host and entertainment mogul Byron Allen is selling a 3,562-square-foot house in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills for $6,995,000, less than two years after he purchased it for his mother so she could live closer to him.

Allen, 45, purchased the house, at 9262 Nightingale Drive, for $4,350,000 (and not the "$5 million" that the Los Angeles Times' "Hot Property" column reported in August 2005 when it wrote about Allen's purchase). The house that Allen is selling is less than a block from Allen's own Hollywood Hills house, which is at 9329 Nightingale Drive. Allen purchased his own 3,540-square-foot house in early 2004 for an undisclosed amount (that same Times article reported that Allen had paid $3.8 million for the house, but we're skeptical.).

Allen owns no shortage of other properties as well, including a 2,090-square-foot condo at 2307 Century Hl in Los Angeles' Century City that he purchased in 1989 for $750,000, a 2,372-square-foot condo at 2253 Century Hl in Century City that he purchased with his mother in late 2005 for $1.28 million, a 2,372-square-foot condo at 2249 Century Hl in Century City that he purchased in 2004 for $780,000, and an 1,837-square-foot condominium unit at 107 N. Swall Drive in Los Angeles' Beverly Center area that he purchased in November 2006 with a woman for exactly $1 million, according to public records. On top of all of that, Allen in 2005 paid a reported $4.5 million to buy a unit in Trump Tower at 721 5th Avene in New York City.

Features in the four-bedroom house at 9262 Nightingale that Allen is selling include three and a half baths, maid's quarters, an open floor plan, walls of glass, head-on city views, and a large (more than half-acre) yard with a pool, according to listing information. Check out the house's listing sheet here. The house previously had been listed for $7,995,000, at which time it had a different listing sheet with more photos, which you can see here.
