Actress Cassandra Peterson, who plays the over-the-top "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark" character, has placed a 2,821-square-foot house she owns in the Silver Lake/Echo Park area of Los Angeles on the market for $1,499,000, a listing price that is almost $200,000 below the $1,698,000 amount that she paid for it in June 2007.

Our friends over at the Real Estalker broke the story of Peterson's listing back on February 11.
And we had broken the story on July 1, 2007 of Peterson's June 2007 purchase of this four-bedroom house. Peterson had purchased the house under the name Cassandra Pierson; at the time of the purchase, she was in the process of divorcing longtime husband Mark Pierson after more than 25 years of marriage.
Built in 1938, Peterson's house has three baths, a den with a fireplace, an office/guest room, hardwood floors, a cook's kitchen with a center island and a large sitting area with French doors, according to public records and listing information. Outdoor features on Elvira's 0.2-acre (8,843-square-foot) property include a private wisteria-covered pergola, a nude pool with a spa, and a grassy yard, according to public records and listing information.
Like the Real Estalker, we have no idea why Peterson is selling this house, particularly in this difficult market. We will keep you posted as we hear more.
