Husband-and-wife actors David Duchovny and Tea Leoni have placed their estate in Malibu, Calif. on the market for $12,000,000.Our friends at theReal Estalker broke the newstoday of the listing, filing another in their long line of excellent scoops. Indeed, since the $12,000,000 listing hit the market (without an address) on June 1, we had been trying to figure out the listing’s exact address. The fact that we now know that the listing is of Duchovny and Leoni’s 5.55-acre estate at 22313 Carbon Mesa Road in Malibu goes a long way toward explaining why listing agent Ellen Francisco has chosen not to publish the estate’s address in her listing information.Records show that Duchovny and Leoni’s Salvatore Trust paid $3,550,000 for the property on May 26, 1999, with the deal being recorded on June 3, 1999. Somewhat surprising was that the Los Angeles Times’ Ruth Ryon did *not* write about the purchase at that time. (Ryon had, however, written two years earlier about the couple’s previous purchase. In 1997, Duchovny and Leoni’s Virgil Rogers Trust paid close to the $2.95 million asking price, Ryon had reported, for the 2,566-square-foot house at 7225 Birdview Avenue in Malibu. The couple quietly sold the Birdview Avenue house in May 1999 for an undisclosed amount.) Built in 1996, Duchovny and Leoni’s current five-bedroom, 6,578-square-foot house in Malibu has four baths, according to public records and listing information. The property also contains an outdoor living area, a two-room guest house over a three-car garage, two swimming pools (one of which is a regulation lap pool), and a separate gym, according to listing information. We have of course written about Carbon Mesa Road before, back whenwe broke the storyon April 11 of country star Kenny Chesney’s listing of his compound at 22355 Carbon Mesa Road, which is just two doors south of the Duchovny/Leoni spread and which Chesney had only purchased in February for $7,400,000.
