Crooner Tom Jones has sold a house in the Bel-Air section of Los Angeles for $3,950,000, according to public records.

Born Thomas Woodward, the Grammy-winning Jones, 66, bought the 4,320-square-foot house at 960 Stradella Road in 1981, according to public records. Perched on a 2.5-acre knoll and containing city views, an open floor plan, walls of glass, high ceilings, five baths and a black-bottom pool surrounded by decks, the five-bedroom, mid-century-style house most recently had been listed for $4.25 million, according to listing information. Other features in the house, which Jones had bought as a place for his parents and sister to live in while they were in Los Angeles, include an upper level master suite with a wood-burning fireplace, wet bar and view decks, according to listing information and the Los Angeles Times.

The Bel-Air house originally had been listed for close to $6 million, and later was reduced to $4.95 million before Jones cut its asking price further, to $4.25 million.

From 1974 to 1998, Jones famously had lived in a different house in Bel-Air, a nine-bedroom, 11,817-square-foot mansion on almost an acre at 363 Copa de Oro Road, which had once belonged to Dean Martin. Jones sold that house in 1998 for around $7 million to Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage (who several months ago put it on the market for a whopping $35 million), and simultaneously paid $2,650,000 for a then-newly built, 8,146-square-foot house at 13976 Aubrey Road in a gated Beverly Hills-area subdivision off Mulholland Drive, according to public records. The Aubrey Road house remains Jones’ house to this day.

Jones also has owned several other L.A.-area houses in recent years. In April 2005, he paid $1,595,000 to buy a two-story, 2,650-square-foot place at 2881 Bottlebrush Drive in Bel-Air for his sister, Sheila. Then, shortly after buying the four-bedroom house, he put it back on the market for about $1.7 million, reportedly because his sister decided she wanted a one-story house and not a two-story one, the Los Angeles Times reported. That house quietly sold in late 2005, also for $1,595,000. In June 2005, Jones went ahead and bought a different, two-bedroom house for his sister—paying $1,650,000 for a 3,059-square-foot house at 2115 Stoney Hill Road in the 90049 ZIP code, according to public records.
