Singer/tabloid staple Britney Spears has listed her 9,130-square-foot house on a small cul-de-sac in the Serra area of Malibu for $13.5 million, according to the multiple listing service.

Despite continual published reports to the contrary, Spears, 25, paid $6.3 million (and not $6.9 million and $7.2 million, which are constantly cited in news accounts as the amount she paid for the house) in 2004 through her Love Shack Trust to buy the seven-bedroom house at 3200 Retreat Court, according to public records. Ever since buying a 7,453-square-foot house at 12094 Summit Circle a gated area of Beverly Hills on December 14, reportedly for about $7.2 million and also through her Love Shack Trust, observers have assumed that Spears would eventually list the onetime marital abode.

Spears’ house is next door to a 6,482-square-foot house on a 1.284-acre parcel at 3210 Retreat Court that was owned by actor Charles Bronson. His widow, Kim Bronson, sold the house in 2004 to singer Olivia Newton-John’s Colony Trust for exactly $5,995,000, according to public records. Newton-John moved to the former Bronson house from her smaller, 4,395-square-foot house at 23449 Malibu Colony Road, which she sold in early 2005 for $6,150,000, according to public records.

The listing sheet for Spears’ house notes that designer William Pauli designed the house, which was built in 1983. The house has eight and a half baths, six private bedroom suites, a dance/workout room, a recording studio, a wine cellar, and a one-bedroom, one-bath guesthouse with a living room and a kitchen, according to listing information. The master suite has vaulted ceilings, three walk-in closets, “abundant storage,” and French doors that lead to “intimate gathering spaces framed by fountains and fireplaces, according to listing information.
