In addition to house-hunting in Miami, Fla., the newly emancipated Britney Spears now is shopping for a house in Beverly Hills, Calif. and in L.A.’s Hollywood Hills, the Los Angeles Times reports (LA Times). Once she finds a house she likes, the Times reported, Spears then is expected to list the eight-bedroom, 9,130-square-foot Malibu home that she has owned with soon-to-be-ex-husband Kevin Federline since 2004, when they bought it for $6.85 million, according to public records. In other L.A. real estate news reported by the Times, Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer has sold his 10-bedroom, 13-bathroom Sunset Strip-area house for close to its $10 million asking price to Russell Weiner, the chief executive officer of Rockstar Inc., which makes Rockstar energy drinks. Also, retired hockey star Luc Robitaille has paid $2.55 million, according to public records, for a five-bedroom, 2,937-square-foot house in the Little Holmby area of Los Angeles’ Westwood neighborhood. The Times didn’t report it, but Robitaille already owns the 4,518-square-foot house next door. And, businesswoman Bren Simon, whose husband is shopping center mogul and Indiana Pacers co-owner Mel Simon, has bought a massive mansion in Bel-Air. The Times reported that the house is brand-new, but it actually was built in 2001. The Times also reported that the mansion is more than 20,000 square feet in size, but public records show that the mansion actually is 19,584 square feet. Finally, the Times reported that the sale price was $28 million, but public records show that Simon actually paid $27.5 million for the mansion, which is down the road from a mansion owned by actress Debra Messing. In the same column, the Times also gives its own spin on the sale of a still-incomplete Beverly Hills compound that was listed last year for $65 million, was later reduced to $33 million and now is under a court order to be sold. The estate, which includes a 30,000-square-foot mansion on 25 acres, is owned by a company called HSSK Holdings, which is controlled by a Saudi businessman and his wife. They’re selling the estate because of a divorce.
