Sportscaster Bob Costas has closed on his unit at Manhattan's celebrated 15 Central Park West project, paying just over $11,000,000 for his unit there.

The New York Observer's Lysandra Ohrstrom broke the story of Costas' closing of Unit 8C at 15 Central Park West on the paper's 'The Real Estate' blog, back on Thursday. We wrote about Costas' purchase back on May 14, shortly after the Wall Street Journal had reported on Costas buying in the Robert A.M. Stern-designed condo complex.

Indeed, public records recorded with the city last Thursday show that Costas (pictured with his wife, Jill) paid $11,017,465 for his unit. However, city records also (inexplicably) describe on the 'doc amount' that Costas' purchase was for $10,820,000. We're sticking with the higher number, which appears on Costas' deed. The deed shows that Costas went to contract to buy the unit on February 1, 2006 and closed on it on November 20, 2007 (more than a month before the deal was recorded).

Like everyone else, we're still waiting on closing amounts for condos at 15 Central Park West that are rumored to be being purchased by celebrities like Denzel Washington and Norman Lear. We previously had written on September 24 about NASCAR stud Jeff Gordon and former Citigroup Chairman Sandy Weill having closed on their units in the complex.
