Actress Blythe Danner, who most recently has appeared in the films “The Last Kiss,” “Meet the Fockers,” and “Meet the Parents” and on the TV show “Will & Grace,” has undergone a flurry of real-estate activities, selling her four-bedroom, 5,290-square-foot, 94-year-old homestead in Santa Monica, Calif.—which is the house where her daughter, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, grew up—for $8.6 million, unloading an an adjacent house for $2.1 million, and purchasing a prewar co-op apartment in New York City for $3.125 million. In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report that Danner, 64, recently sold the adjoining properties in Santa Monica to Jerome Dahan, who co-founded the well-known 7 For All Mankind designer jeans company, also known as Seven or Seven Jeans. Danner had shared their house at 304 21st Street (also known as 2020 Georgina Avenue) in Santa Monica, which was built in 1913, with her late husband Bruce Paltrow, who died in 2002 of pneumonia during a battle with throat cancer. Paltrow and Danner had bought that house, which is on a double lot on a corner, since 1976. Then, in 1999, they bought the three-bedroom, 2,468-square-foot house next door at 316 21st Street, according to public records. Most recently, Danner has been renting that smaller house, which was built in 1948, to TV writer Susan Baskin, according to public records. During Danner’s many years living in Santa Monica, she was very active in community causes, including taking a key role in helping to get curbside recycling implemented in the town. Unfortunately, no listing sheets are available online for either of the two houses that Danner sold in Santa Monica. It’s possible that she sold both properties without ever listing them on the multiple listing service. Also, Danner has just purchased a new unit in the co-op building at One Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, overlooking Washington Square Park. She paid $3.125 million for the 17th-floor unit, according to public records, buying it from a Greek couple. That three-bedroom unit has three baths, according to the New York Post’s Braden Keil. It’s nine floors above the eighth-floor unit in the building that Danner sold for $1.8 million in August 2006 to a New York lawyer and his wife, according to public records. That unit that Danner sold last year was one that her daughter and her onetime fiance Brad Pitt had lived in at one time, the Post noted. Danner has owned other properties over the years as well. In spring 2005, she sold two properties at 193 Mead Street and 195 Mead Street in Waccabuc, N.Y., in Westchester County, for $2.4 million and $3.6 million, according to public records. By relocating permanently to the New York area, Danner is putting herself much closer to her daughter, who owns no fewer than three New York-area properties: a 3.5-floor unit in the small, two-unit building at 13 Harrison Street in TriBeCa, which she bought in spring 2005 for $7.95 million, a 6,800-square-foot house on 2.25 acres at 35 Old Montauk Highway in Amagansett, which Gwyneth purchased last year for $5.4 million, and a 3,892-square-foot penthouse condo that had been listed for $5.5 million that is in the warehouse building at 424 Washington Street, which is a purchase that is expected to close shortly.
