Actress Mariska Hargitay has just sold her six-room duplex penthouse in Manhattan's TriBeCa area for $5,100,000.
The New York Observer's Max Abelson broke the story on the paper's 'The Real Estate' blog on Tuesday. Indeed, Abelson was right on the money, as always -- city records on the sale that were filed on Tuesday afternoon show that Hargitay had gone to contract to sell the three-bedroom unit, at 19 Beach Street, on June 19. The deal closed on October 9, according to public records.
Others have covered Hargitay's erstwhile unit far better than we ever could. Abelson wrote about the unit back on March 18, when it was on the market for $5,950,000, but the story first was broken by our friends over at the Real Estalker, who wrote about the listing even earlier, on Feb. 26.
Features in the TriBeCa duplex include a library, a 1,475-square-foot private roof deck, and a one-car garage. Other features include two and a half baths, one fireplace, nine-foot-plus ceiling heights, a chef's kitchen with all-stainless steel Viking appliances, a formal dining room, and city views, according to listing information. The unit's size is up for debate; public records state that the penthouse measures 3,068 square feet, while listing information calls it 2,716 square feet. At the time the unit sold, it had been listed for $5,495,000.
Hargitay had owned the unit since 2002.

So where is Hargitay off to? She certainly has turned over her real estate portfolio in the last two years; in January 2006, she sold her 2,944-square-foot house at 9274 Warbler Way in the Bird Streets area of Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills for $1,560,000, according to public records. Back in March, she had told the Observer's Abelson that she needed more space for her family.
We'll keep you posted on where Hargitay winds up.
