Actor Noah Wyle has paid $1,800,000 for a four-bedroom house in the Solvang, Calif., which is in the Santa Ynez Valley in Santa Barbara County.
In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on Wyle's purchase of the country-style house, in the unincorporated Ballard area of Solvang, which is the town where some of the popular movie "Sideways" was filmed. Records show that Wyle, 36, made the purchase earlier this year through his Arthur Hesbry Trust.
Features in the house, which had been listed for $1,995,000, include three baths, wide plank country pine floors, a formal dining room, oversize panel doors and custom trim throughout, fireplaces in the dining room and great room, and a traditional-style kitchen with a black & white checked floor and a prep area that overlooks the back deck, according to listing information. Other features include a screened-in porch, an extra-deep two-car garage, a laundry room, a large pantry, and a master bath with an old-style claw-foot tub, a toilet room, a double vanity and a large walk-in closet, according to listing information. Outside are a barbeque area, a saltwater pool and a spa, according to listing information. The property also has a separate detached building with a one-car garage, a pool room, a full bath, a craft and/or music room and a shop area.
This isn't the only real-estate transaction that Wyle has made in the last year. Back in December, we wrote about the actor selling his 5,149-square-foot house at 2423 Nottingham Avenue in Los Angeles' Los Feliz area (we later revealed that the final sale price was $4,225,000) so he could spend more time at his ranch on Long Canyon Road in Santa Ynez, Calif., which he has bought in pieces over the last decade, according to public records.
Although Wyle's newly purchased house in Solvang is near his ranch, it's not actually directly adjacent to it, and it's unclear what the exact use will be for the house. Let's walk through the various purchases that Wyle has made involving his Santa Ynez ranch, which today measures 57.53 acres:
--In late 1998, Wyle's Max Gorodetsky Trust paid about $2.5 million, according to news accounts, to buy 45.15 acres from actress Bo Derek at 3155 Long Canyon Road and at 3275 Montecielo Road in Santa Ynez, according to public records; the parcels are 19.2 acres, 13.79 acres and 12.16 acres in size
--In 2002, Wyle's Arthur Hesbry Trust paid something north of $1 million to buy a 10-acre parcel at 3300 Long Canyon Road in Santa Ynez, according to public records; Wyle turned around and sold that property in late 2005 for an undisclosed amount
--In late 2005, Wyle's Arthur Hesbry Trust paid an undisclosed amount to purchase a 12.38-acre parcel at 3065 Long Canyon Road in Santa Ynez, according to public records.
