Actor and retired professional wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin has sold his four-bedroom, 3,881-square-foot house in Malibu, Calif. for $2,495,000.

This is yet another in the slowly-diminishing pile of items that we still haven't weighed in on (and that were published during our site's involuntary, hacker-induced hiatus last month). We had been watching this property for a long time for activity, and we commend the Los Angeles Times' Ann Brenoff for breaking the story online on Sept. 2 of Austin's sale of the house, even before we were able to spot proof of Austin's sale in public records.

Records show that Austin, whose real name is Steve Williams, sold the house, at 6184 Galahad Road in Malibu on August 22, with the deal being recorded on August 29. The buyers are not celebrities. Austin took one heck of a haircut on the house, which he purchased back in September 2005 -- yes, at the height of the market -- for $3,100,000. In July 2007, we wrote ( about Austin's listing of the house for $3,895,000.

Built in 1997, the house that Austin sold has four and a half baths, views of the ocean and of Santa Monica, a kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, a glass front wine cooler, a den with built-ins, ebony-stained bamboo flooring, a theater system, an infinity pool, a spa, a gated entry, and a three-car garage, according to public records and listing information. The house sits on a 1.41-acre parcel, according to public records.

Where is Austin living now? Austin paid $1,965,000 on June 15, 2007 (deal recorded on July 19, 2007) to purchase a three-bedroom, 2,724-square-foot house in Marina del Rey, Calif., according to public records. That deed also gave Austin an address in Los Angeles' Venice area, although public records don't show any evidence of Austin ever having owned that Venice property. Instead, the Venice house is shown as being owned by Kristin Ferres, a woman who has been linked to Austin.

Austin also has been reported to own a ranch in Texas.
