University Village is a newly developed neighborhood just west of The University of Illinois at Chicago, witch is where it gets its name.
The area is bound by the Eisenhower expressway to the north, UIC at Halsted to the east and Rush University Medical Center at Ashland to the west. It is a desirable area not only because of its resent housing developments but because of its proximity to family-owned restaurants and shops in Little Italy and Greektown, the loops financial district, world-class restaurants, theaters and shops, and the Maxwell Street famous street market.
The area has also drawn in
many new wine bars, restaurants and boutiques.
The housing is largely new or rehabbed condos,
Townhomes and Rowhouses. The area is continuing
to grow with many new developments nearby.
The area is also close to transportation
with The Eisenhower expressway on the north
end, the CTA Blue Line runs down the center
of the expressway and a 5 minute drive down
Roosevelt Road will take you to Lake Shore
