"Weeds" creator Jenji Kohan has placed her three-bedroom, California Spanish-style house in Los Angeles' Los Feliz area on the market for $1,597,000.
In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on the hit Showtime series creator's listing of her longtime house. The listing hit the market on Friday, July 17.
Records show that Kohan purchased the house in 1996 for $520,000. Built in 1927, the 2,980-square-foot house has two and a half baths, 1920s details, beamed ceilings, a hand-painted mural entry foyer, a hand-hewn wrought iron circular stairway, a turret sitting room, and a Cordon Bleu kitchen with an Aga range and a Sub-Zero refrigerator, according to public records and listing information. Outdoor features on the gated, 0.15-acre (6,550-square-foot) property, which sits on a bluff, include grassy entertaining areas planted with succulents, fruit trees and passion fruit, according to public records and listing information.
The house is just a few doors north of actress Laura Prepon's house.
Kohan is selling because she paid exactly $4,000,000 earlier this year for a 5,919-square-foot house (really, a Mediterranean estate) elsewhere in Los Feliz. Do check out the fine post by our friends over at the Real Estalker about that purchase, which is just across the street from the house that singer Rachel Sweet is trying to sell.
