Usher lists five-bedroom, 8,022-square-foot home in Alpharetta, GA for $1.95M
Recently married R&B/hip hop star Usher, born Usher Raymond IV, has listed his 8,022-square-foot house in Alpharetta, Ga. for $1,950,000. We’re following up on some nice coverage of this listing that has appeared elsewhere, including in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday, and at the Real Estalker on Thursday.
Built in 1988, the house, which once appeared on MTV’s “Cribs,” is at 4065 Merriweather Woods in Alpharetta, which is outside Atlanta. Usher, 28, purchased it in late 1998 for $1,200,000 from producer Antonio “L.A.” Reid, who is the CEO of Def Jam Records and who ran the label in those early years right out of the house. Features in the five-bedroom house include four and a half baths, an owner’s suite on the main level, a terrace with a hair salon, an exercise room, a family room with a custom bar, a billiards room, a recording studio and a three-car garage, according to listing information. The house sits on a 0.87-acre lot in an area of Alpharetta called Country Club of the South, according to public records. The story goes that as a 13-year-old (i.e., in 1991 or 1992), Usher told Reid that the house would one day belong to him. The home is where, Reid told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an article that appeared on July 29, 2005, “we watched TLC experiment in our salon with different hairstyles. Where a 13-year-old Usher came in and said, ‘This is going to be my house one day’ — and now it is.” Check out listing information for Usher’s house, complete with photos. The Citrus house is for her parent and her brother Todd and Jennifer live in the Gardner house. She is being a good daughter and sharing the wealth with the family.

What’s wrong with having a big house if you can afford it? Just because you live by yourself or with one other person instead of six doesn’t mean you should be in a smaller place; that doesn’t make any sense. People, by nature, need space.

Actually it wasn’t just two people. Nikki had three kids from a previous marriage who visited often and she had her son who lived with her, plus their had a child together. So they needed more than enough room.
