TV financial guru Suze Orman and her partner have paid more than $3.6 million for a 12th-floor unit in the Plaza in Manhattan.

The New York Observer's Max Abelson today broke the story on the paper's real estate blog, "The Real Estate," of Orman's purchase of the unit in the Plaza, which is the famed, now-shuttered hotel at 768 5th Avenue in New York City that is being converted into condominiums. A deed filed today with the city shows that Orman and her partner, Kathy Travis, paid $3,676,785 (or, according to the city's "doc amount" total, $3,610,887) for the 12th-floor unit. The pair went to contract to buy the unit on March 8, and closed on it on November 9, according to public records.

Orman, 56, admitted to the New York Times magazine last February that she's a lesbian. Her longtime partner, Travis, is a co-producer on her show.

Orman and Travis also own a condo unit in the Ocean Grande Beach & Marina condominium development in Hillsboro Beach, Fla. (in Broward County) that they together purchased in early 2004 for $954,000, according to public records.
