A purchase price has just become available in public records for the nearly one-acre vacant homesite in Los Angeles' Brentwood area that actor Tobey Maguire purchased on November 27 -- which we first wrote about back on January 25 -- and records reveal that the actor paid exactly $10,000,000 for the 0.93-acre lot.
In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can clear up some obvious confusion out there about how much Tobey paid for the property, where he'll be building his dream home. The Los Angeles Times' soon-to-depart "Hot Property" columnist Ruth Ryon on Sunday will lead her column with a report on Maguire's purchase of the lot at 193 N. Carmelina Avenue in Brentwood through his Thrasher Trust (just two months after we broke the story on Tobey's purchase!). Ryon appears a little uncertain, though, about the purchase price. Her headline reports that Maguire paid $9.7 million for the lot (which is just flat-out wrong), while in the second paragraph of this coming Sunday's column, she notes that Westside real estate agents told her that Maguire paid "about $10 million" for it. We're happy to clear things up entirely for Ryon. Records that recently became available demonstrate without any ambiguity that Maguire paid exactly $10,000,000 for the lot. As we noted on January 25 and as we had exclusively reported on August 2, 2007, Tobey's Thrasher Trust on May 25, 2007 sold his house at 9000 Thrasher Avenue in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills for $10,800,000, according to public records. The actor most recently has been renting a Leonardo DiCaprio-owned, 4,551-square-foot house at 9045 Oriole Way in the Bird Streets area of Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills. Owned by Leo since 1999, Tobey's rental house on Oriole Way has plenty of star power, given that Madonna sold it in 1994 for $2,000,000, according to public records.
