The late Bobby Darin's former house in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills sells for $2.9125M
The 4,250-square-foot house in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills that the late big band performer and teen idol Bobby Darin once inhabited has sold for $2,912,500.
In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on the sale of the house at 1411 Rising Glen Road in Los Angeles, which was where Darin lived in the 1950s. The house originally had been listed early this year for $3,689,000 and later was reduced to $2,995,000. We had written about the house back on March 25, and then we wrote on August 29 about the massive price cut.
Built in 1955, the five-bedroom house has three and a half baths, wraparound windows, exposed brick walls in the bedrooms, a step-down living room centered around the fireplace, “classic fixture” details, and a swimming pool, according to listing information. The sellers were two women who had bought the house for $1,375,000, according to public records.
The buyer is hotelier Jason Pomeranc, who has opened a new hotel in L.A. and who apparently has lots of celebrity friends, including Shannen Doherty.
We have written plenty about Rising Glen Road, whose most famous resident ever — easily — was Britney Spears. Britney’s first Los Angeles-area home was up at the end of a long, private drive in the 8,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style house on a 1.29-acre property (consisting of two separate lots) at 1893 Rising Glen Road (up at the end/top of the road), which her Brit-ness bought in January 2001 through her Coastal Operatives LLC company for $2,975,000, according to public records. (We should note that the house’s address has gone back and forth over the years between 1893 and 1895 Rising Glen Road, since those are the addresses assigned to the house’s two lots.) Spears sold the Rising Glen property in 2003 to Brittany Murphy’s Nina Bow Trust for $3,850,000, according to public records. Murphy continues to own the property to this day.
Other noteworthy owners on Rising Glen Road over the years include the late actor Brock Peters, whose house at 1420 Rising Glen Road (i.e., just across the street from the former Darin place) sold in March to fashion critic and red-carpet style maven Steven Cojocaru’s Hollywood Boulevard Trust for $3,800,000, according to public records. We wrote about that house on March 24.
And, celebrity fashion stylist Rachel Zoe currently has her house at 1644 Rising Glen Road on the market, as we noted earlier today.

The Citrus house is for her parent and her brother Todd and Jennifer live in the Gardner house. She is being a good daughter and sharing the wealth with the family.

What’s wrong with having a big house if you can afford it? Just because you live by yourself or with one other person instead of six doesn’t mean you should be in a smaller place; that doesn’t make any sense. People, by nature, need space.

Actually it wasn’t just two people. Nikki had three kids from a previous marriage who visited often and she had her son who lived with her, plus their had a child together. So they needed more than enough room.
