Supermodel Carolyn Murphy has sold her four-bedroom, 3,386-square-foot house in Los Angeles' Brentwood area for $3,600,000.
First off, mad props to our pals over at the Real Estalker for breaking the story on December 10 of the $3,650,000 listing of Murphy's now-former house, at 330 S. Medio Drive in Brentwood. Now, in a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on the sale price of the 3,386-square-foot house, which closed on December 11 and which was recorded on December 28. The buyers are not celebrities.
Records show that Murphy's Trust paid $3,420,000 in September 2006 to buy the four-bedroom house, which has three baths and sits on a 0.25-acre parcel, according to public records. Built in 1944, the Spanish-style house has a chef's kitchen, an adjacent family room with a vaulted beamed ceiling, a sun-filled master suite with a beau bath and two walk-in closets, an office/art studio bonus room, hardwood floors, original tiles, iron work, a walled courtyard, patios and a private yard, according to listing information.

Murphy undoubtedly met her money manager -- whose name was on the trust that sold the house -- through her ex-boyfriend, Incubus' frontman Brandon Boyd. The Santa Monica-based money manager, Bill Vuylsteke, over the years has represented many celebrities, particularly those in rock and roll. Some of his clients have included Rivers Cuomo, Nikka Costa, Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea, Lucy Liu, Incubus' Mike Einziger, and A Perfect Circle's Billy Howerdel.
The Real Estalker did a fine job of critiquing the Brentwood house that Murphy just sold, and correctly noted that Murphy previously had owned a house in Los Angeles' Venice Beach area that she sold not long ago, "probably shortly after the H&G (magazine) people styled and snapped" it. Indeed, records show that Murphy has owned at least two L.A.-area houses over the years: a 3,114-square-foot house at 2325 McKinley Avenue in Venice that she sold in November 2006 for $2,375,000; and a 2,102-square-foot house at 236 W. Channel Road in Santa Monica that she sold in March 2006 for $2,300,000, according to public records.
Our understanding is that Murphy has moved up north, to a 3,321-square-foot house on 2.38 acres that she purchased at Ojai, Calif. We'll keep you posted.
