The Los Angeles Times has decided to dump its Sunday Real Estate section after more than a century. The paper announced the sad news yesterday that it’s discontinuing the Real Estate section, because of reductions of staff and space. The shift is less relevant to readers of our little blog, because the Times’ current “Hot Property” columnist Ann Brenoff wisely has started blogging and running “Hot Property” items all throughout the week on the web – many appearing online long before they appear in the paper. But, it’s sad to see a section launched in 1901 be “put to bed” for good, as the Times’ Real Estate editor Lauren Beale noted in her post. We wish the Times the best of luck as it continues to retool itself. May its best days still lie ahead!
