San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito has paid $2,155,000 to purchase a 4,366-square-foot house in the Bird Streets area of Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills.
In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on Zito's purchase of the four-bedroom house, which had been listed for $2.25 million and then for $2.15 million.
Built in 1962, Zito's new house has four and a half baths, soaring ceilings, open and flowing entertaining rooms and a large master suite, according to public records and listing information. The deal was recorded in mid-February. The seller is not a celebrity.
Zito is known for being one of the finest pitchers in baseball today. He's also a bit of a Hollywood celebrity in his own right, reportedly having dated Alyssa Milano in the past and later, Hilary Duff (with whom he is pictured here).
Zito has owned other L.A.-area real estate. He paid exactly $2 million in 2003 for another 4,831-square-foot house in the Hollywood Hills. That house is not currently on the market, and we have to say, we have no clue what Barry's plans are for his new house (although given that he's under a $126 million, multiyear contract with the Giants, he can pretty much buy whatever he wants). If anyone hears anything, let us know.
