A few weeks ago I watched a movie that took place in the great depression. The main family was struggling as the father had lost his job and decided to travel out of state to look for another one. In order to make ends meet they rented out rooms of their modest home.

Is that where we are headed now? Is this already happening? I don't see it where I live so it is hard for me to know but certainly there are fewer people buying homes. I know that more family members (and extended family) are sharing housing than before.

There is a new website called Airbnb that offers people the opportunity to rent out a room for short term (like a hotel stay). What about a listing service for a room of a home for longer periods? If we keep heading the same direction you could see this become a more popular option. Certainly it would be better than living on the streets.
