Grammy award-winning producer and musician Jimmy Jam has listed his vacant estate in Thousand Oaks, Calif. for $7,995,000.
The Los Angeles Times' Ann Brenoff broke the story on Tuesday of the listing of the 20-acre estate by Jam and his wife, Lisa Harris (both of whom are pictured). The estate, at 600 W. Potrero Road in Thousand Oaks, is a gated ranch that is located next to the Sherwood Country Club. Although there currently is nothing of note on the property (besides some existing barns), the estate is zoned to allow a 17,000-square-foot-plus mansion, plus a 2,500-square-foot guesthouse.
We have written about this property before. Back on August 27, 2007, we noted that Jam was continuing to own the Thousand Oaks property, even after selling his mansion in Minnetrista, Minn. for exactly $7,000,000. In that post, we also noted that Jam previously had had the Thousand Oaks property on the market for $9,850,000. We had written at that time, 'It will be interesting to see if Harris follows through with selling that land, or if he instead chooses to build his dream mansion on that land.'
Apparently, it's now clear that Jam very much wants to move forward with unloading the Thousand Oaks estate. Records show that Jam and Harris paid $7,050,000 in October 2003 for the property in Thousand Oaks. Check out an online listing sheet for Jam's estate -- complete with photos -- here. Thousand Oaks is a celebrity-heavy town, and we have written before about many celebrities who have lived in the vicinity of the Sherwood Country Club.
They include: --Actor Jamie Foxx, who in June 2006 paid a reported $10.5 million for the 17,000-square-foot mansion on Potrero Road. We wrote about that mansion on May 20, 2007. --Hockey great Wayne Gretzky, who last summer sold a house at 1072 Newbern Court in Thousand Oaks to retired baseball player Lenny Dykstra, as we had reported on November 11, 2007. --Crooner Paul Anka, who last year paid $3,962,000, as we had exclusively reported on June 11, 2007, to purchase a house in Thousand Oaks. --Figure skater Scott Hamilton, who sold a house at 480 S. UpperLake Road in Thousand Oaks, as we had exclusively reported on March 31, 2007.
