Turntablist and Beastie Boys resident member Mixmaster Mike has paid $990,000 for a 2,025-square-foot house in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills. The Los Angeles Times’ outgoing “Hot Property” columnist Ruth Ryon last Sunday (i.e., nine days ago) broke the story of Mixmaster Mike’s purchase of the three-bedroom house, which closed on January 17 and was recorded on February 8. Built in 1930, the house had been on the market for $1,145,000. Features in the house, which sits on a 0.25-acre parcel, include one full baths and one three-quarter bath, a study, a gourmet kitchen with views of the gardens, a formal dining room, a living room with exposed beam ceilings and a fireplace, and hardwood floors throughout, according to public records and listing information. Other features include a wraparound porch and room for a pool, according to listing information. We’re a little puzzled by Ryon’s characterization of the house as being near on the Sunset Strip. Although we can’t print its address here, maps show that Mixmaster Mike’s new house is nowhere near the Sunset Strip. It actually lies between Mulholland Drive and the 101. Correction, anyone?
