Actor Matthew McConaughey is selling off his three-lot compound in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills, just north of the Sunset Strip, with his principal residence, a four-bedroom, 4,291-square-foot Spanish Hacienda, on the market for $3,299,000. The house, at 2605 Astral Drive, currently is in escrow, the Los Angeles Times is reporting ( LA Times). Built in 1978, the house, which McConaughey once gave a tour of on an episode of “Oprah,” has a two-story entry, an eat-in kitchen, five baths, a large living room with a fireplace, and a large second-floor master bedroom suite with a fireplace and French doors that open to a balcony, according to the listing. Other features in the house include a koi pond and a fire pit on the property’s 0.22-acre lot. McConaughey bought the house in 2002 through his Casa Revocable Trust for $2.075 million. McConaughey also has owned two other adjoining houses—a two-bedroom 1,303-square-foot house at 2575 Nichols Canyon Road that he bought in 2004 for $1.3 million and that he just sold in October for an undisclosed price to a company called Tsunami Films, Inc., and a three-bedroom, 2,303-square-foot house at 2587 Nichols Canyon Road that he bought in 2003, also for $1.3 million, that he currently has on the market for $1.6 million, according to public records. No information is yet available about where McConaughey is moving, but given that his career continues to rise to new levels—he’s starring in “We Are Marshall,” which opens on Friday—and his per-movie paychecks keep going up as well, he’s probably buying a place in the $10 million-plus range and on more acreage, either in Malibu, the Hollywood Hills or Bel-Air. We will share information with you about his new residence as we learn it.
