Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton pays $2.75M for a new house in Manhattan Beach, CA, and sells his town house nearby for $1.235M

Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton has paid $2,750,000 for a new house in Manhattan Beach, Calif. and has sold his town house nearby for $1,235,000.

Tomorrow, the Los Angeles Times’ Ruth Ryon will break the story of Walton’s recent real estate transactions.

Records show that on October 23, Walton, 27, sold his town house at 48 Malaga Way in Manhattan Beach, with the deal being recorded on November 7. He had purchased that house in early 2004 for $860,000. Built in 1983, the three-bedroom, 1,752-square-foot house (or 1,820-square-foot, according to listing information) had been listed for $1,324,000. Features in Walton’s former house include three baths, hardwood front doors, a completely remodeled kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, a great room, a remodeled master bedroom, and a steam shower in the master bath, according to listing information.

Walton’s new five-bedroom house, at 1613 Gates Avenue in Manhattan Beach, had been listed for $2,999,000 before he bought it. The 5,100-square-foot house has five and a half baths, a 30-foot ceiling in a custom tiled entry foyer, walnut hardwood floors throughout the entire home, limestone and granite throughout, and a three-car garage, according to listing information. Walton closed on the house on October 26. The purchase was recorded on November 8.

We’re a little puzzled about how Ryon concluded that Walton’s new house measures just 2,700 square feet and has four bedrooms. Listing information pretty plainly states that the house measures 5,100 square feet and has five bedrooms.
