A 3,014-square-foot house in West Hollywood, Calif. that once was owned by the late actress Loretta Young and later by the late actor Craig Stevens has been listed for $2,985,000. As we continue to catch up on items that we haven't had time to get to earlier, we wanted to weigh in on this four-bedroom country English-style house, which first was written about last Sunday by the Los Angeles Times' Ruth Ryon in her "Hot Property" column. Built in 1923 (according to public records) or 1926 (according to Ryon) and located at 1305 N. Sweetzer Avenue, the gated house has four baths, two master suites, a formal dining room, a den, a pool, a hot tub and a historic biography on file, according to listing information. The house sits on a 0.23-acre lot, according to public records. The house came on the market on January 6. The house never was actually occupied by Young, who owned it from 1940 until 1969. Instead, the Oscar-winning actress lived next door, and had rented this house out, Ryon reported. Stevens owned the house from 1969 until his death in 2000. Records show that the current couple that has the house on the market had purchased it from Stevens' estate for just $750,000 in 2001, according to public records. If the house's street name sounds familiar, that's because actor Johnny Depp owns a celebrated, 7,430-square-foot Norman-style mansion just up the street at 1486 N. Sweetzer Avenue that he purchased in 1995 for about $2.3 million. We wrote about that mansion on September 14. Check out an online listing sheet for the house -- complete with photos -- here.
