Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh pays $1.775M for a 1BR condominium unit in Manhattan’s SoHo area

Phil Lesh, bassist for and co-founder of the rock band the Grateful Dead, has paid $1,775,000 for a one-bedroom, 1,500-square-foot condominium unit in Manhattan’s SoHo area.

The New York Observer’s “Manhattan Transfers” column that was uploaded online last night broke the story of Lesh’s purchase of the unit, which is in the building at 90 Prince Street in SoHo. Indeed, public records show that Lesh went to contract to purchase the unit on June 30, and that he closed on the unit on July 11. The deed was recorded with the city on July 24.

Features in Lesh’s new unit include one marble bath, 12-foot ceilings, a triangle-shaped office off the bedroom, an in-unit washer/dryer, north and west exposures, and an open, windowed chef’s kitchen, according to listing information. The unit had been on the market for $1,800,000.
