Director, special-effects artist and makeup artist Stan Winston sells his beach house in Malibu, CA for an undisclosed price after it had been listed for $11.95M; buyer appears to be a celebrity
Director, special-effects artist and makeup artist Stan Winston has sold his recently remodeled, 3,014-square-foot beach house on La Costa Beach in Malibu, Calif. for an undisclosed price after it had been on the market for $11,950,000.

In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on the sale of the three-bedroom house at 21622 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Records show that the house sold on May 16, and that the deal was recorded on June 3. We wrote about Winston’s listing back on November 30, 2007.

The buyer appears to us to be a celebrity. Records show that the buyer is something called the Walden Trust. The money manager’s name on the deed, George Savitsky, runs a Santa Monica-based company that manages affairs for celebrities. So, we’re all ears if anyone has heard who purchased this house—let us know! Our initial read of public records suggests that the buyer may have been a member of the entertainment industry’s Moonves family—either CBS CEO Les or his younger brother, entertainment lawyer and poker guru Jonathan.
Built in 1957, Winston’s former beach house include three and a half baths, a great room, teak and stainless steel finishes everywhere, a beachside master suite with two walk-in closets and a fireplace, two en suite bedrooms, and a den/media room with a dropdown screen and a projector, according to listing information. The house has 35 feet of beach frontage on the Pacific Ocean.
Winston had purchased the house in 2005 for $6,200,000 and subsequently rebuilt the house.
Check out a still-active online listing sheet for the house – complete with photos – here. And, take a look at this hilariously named website for the house that was created by uber-agent to the stars Stephen Shapiro, here.

Color me amazed at houses doubling in value in 2-3 years in a period of supposedly downward pressure on house prices. Any explanation?
