Danny DeVito and wife Rhea Perlman are selling home Beverly Hills
Actor/director Danny DeVito and his wife, actress Rhea Perlman, are selling their spread on nearly two acres in Beverly Hills, Calif.—immediately next door to the mansion that the now-split supercouple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston owned from 2001 to 2006—for close to $32 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.
DeVito and Perlman bought the two-story, Colonial-style residence at 1028 Ridgedale Drive in 1990, paying in the $8 million range, according to a Los Angeles Times article at that time. Built in 1930 and designed—like the former Pitt/Aniston house next door at 1026 Ridgedale—by architect Wallace Neff, the DeVito house in 1990 had two family bedrooms and a small guest bedroom in the main house, along with two maids’ quarters in a separate structure, a cabana, a temperature-controlled greenhouse, six and a half baths, four fireplaces and one swimming pool.
Today, the recently refurbished DeVito/Perlman compound measures a whopping 14,579 square feet, according to public records, and is considered to have a Country French architectural style, the Times reported. The property also now has two swimming pools, the paper reported. Other features include a movie-theater-quality projection room, a sound studio, a guesthouse, two offices, a gym, a library and a wine cellar, according to the Times.
Records show that DeVito and Perlman own more property than they—or the Times—have reported. In addition to owning a six-bedroom, 3,347-square-foot house at 31020 Broad Beach Road in Malibu—which they bought in 1989, according to public records—they also own a 980-square-foot house next door (probably a buffer property) at 31022 Broad Beach Road in Malibu, according to public records. They also own a condominium at 4774 Park Encino Lane in Encino, Calif., which they bought in 1998 for $350,000, according to public records. Finally, with veteran character actor Tracey Walter, whom DeVito has directed in three films and acted alongside in nine films, DeVito and Perlman have co-owned a house at 257 N. Rexford Drive in Beverly Hills since late 2004, according to public records.
There is no word yet on why the couple is listing the house or where they plan to relocate.

[...] Lost in all the fuss about the sweetness of the unit–and as you can tell from the photos, it really is a sweet unit–is the fact that Bon Jovi’s purchase is one of the highest amounts that any American celebrity–and by celebrity, we mean entertainment figure or sports figure, not a captain of business–has ever paid for a residential property. Sure, celebrities have listed properties that they own for more (Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman listing their Beverly Hills estate for $31.9 million, Courteney Cox listing her Malibu home for $33.5 million, etc.). But going above $20 million is still pretty rarefied air; there’s clearly no celebrity who has paid that much between the two coasts (Vince Vaughn is the record holder in the flyover part of the country, having paid $12 million last year for a place in Chicago).
