Stand-up comedienne, writer and producer Carol Leifer has sold a house in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills for a reported amount of close to $2 million.

The Los Angeles Times' Ruth Ryon broke the story last week of Leifer's sale, but we didn't want to write about the sale until now because the public records databases that we have access to did not last Sunday show that the house, at 2960 Briar Knoll Drive in the Hollywood Hills, had actually sold. This past week, however, the databases were updated and revealed that Leifer's Briar Knoll Trust, which purchased the house in 1998 for $875,000, did indeed sell the house for an undisclosed amount on August 9. The sale, which was to a married couple, was recorded on August 24, according to public records.

Leifer's sale price should be available in a few weeks. At that time we'll of course share it with you. It will, as always, be interested to see how "close to $2 million," to use Ryon's words, the sale will wind up being. The house had been listed for $2,050,000.

As we had noted back when we exclusively reported on June 17 about Leifer having placed the home on the market, the comedienne, 51, has owned no fewer than four L.A.-area houses over the years. Built in 1956 and most recently used as a rental, the one-story house at 2960 Briar Knoll has three bedrooms -- including a master bedroom suite with a sitting room facing the pool -- a guest room, a den, a family room/media room, two fireplaces, hardwood floors and a large remodeled kitchen, according to listing information.

Also as we had noted on June 17, Leifer and her partner, Lori Wolf, had paid $2,827,500 in May 2006 to purchase a five-bedroom, 4,125-square-foot traditional-style house at 3101 Fryman Road in Los Angeles' Studio City area, according to public records. In 2006, Leifer told the Times that she loved the Briar Knoll Drive house "so much, we kept it," and had decided to rent it out.

Obviously, Leifer eventually changed her mind, and decided to list the house after all. Our post on June 17 provided further details on the other two L.A.-area houses that Leifer previously has owned over the years -- both of which are in the Hollywood Hills and both of which are in the same immediate neighborhood as the Briar Knoll Drive house that she just sold.
