Singer Clay Aiken has sold his condominium unit in Charlotte, N.C. for the modest amount of $71,000.  In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on Aiken's sale of his 1,096-square-foot condo unit in Charlotte, which he had owned since purchasing it at age 21 in 2000. Public records show that Aiken paid $67,500 in May 2000 for the unit, which is at 9509 University Terrace Drive in Charlotte. Earlier this year, Aiken sold the unit to a married couple from just outside New York City. Records show that on April 30, the unit sold for $71,000. The sale closed on May 1, according to public records. Clay's current digs are unclear. Various news reports over the last few years have said Aiken was building himself a house in North Carolina, but we don't have any information yet to substantiate that. In September 2004, Aiken's Raleigh Trust paid $2.3 million to buy a 7,786-square-foot house on a 1.316-acre parcel at 22751 Plummer Street in Chatsworth, Calif., according to public records. However, less than a year later, the singer's trust turned right around and sold the house for $2,375,000, according to public records.
