Billionaire investor Kirk Kerkorian lowers price on 30 acre estate in Beverly Hills
Billionaire investor Kirk Kerkorian has lowered the asking price of his 30-plus-acre estate in the Beverly Hills, Calif. postal area from $25 million to $18 million. Worth about $9 billion and known for having built and developed several megaresort hotels in Las Vegas, Kerkorian, 89, changed the estate’s address 9750 Wanda Park Drive and 9800 Wanda Park Drive to 9712 Oak Pass Road. The reason for this is because the Wanda Park addresses carry a 90027 ZIP code—which is merely Los Angeles—while having an Oak Pass Road address gives Kerkorian the more-desirable 90210 ZIP code. The gated compound has access from both Oak Pass Road and Wanda Park Drive. The property includes a six-bedroom, Mediterranean-style, 8,402-square-foot main residence, two tennis courts, two pools, a putting green and two guesthouses. See a listing sheet for Kerkorian’s property here. About 11 acres of the compound—including the main house—once was owned by actor Sylvester Stallone, who bought the house and land from Kerkorian for $5.7 million in 1990 and then sold it back to the financer in 1997 for $5.2 million, the Los Angeles Times has reported. Another part of the estate once was sold to the later Rep. Sonny Bono, who subsequently sold that portion of the estate back to Kerkorian as well. Previous listings for Kerkorian’s compound have suggested that the property is ripe for development. Kerkorian still owns a 6,951-square-foot house in the heart of Beverly Hills, at 1014 N. Roxbury Drive, and also owns a house at 3199 Bel Air Drive in Winchester, Nev., outside of Las Vegas. The Beverly Hills-area compound that Kerkorian is selling has the added attraction of being surrounded by the stars. Hollywood supercouple Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher live just a few doors away, in a house at 9740 Oak Pass Road that she bought in 2003 through her 4770 Trust for $3.15 million, according to public records. The couple recently expanded that house, according to the L.A. County Assessor’s office, increasing its size from 4,515 square feet to 6,716 square feet. And actor Mark Wahlberg lives in a five-bedroom, 8,932-square-foot house at 9694 Oak Pass Road that he purchased in 2001 through his Marley Realty Trust for $4.95 million, according to public records.
