Actress Teri Garr lists her house in Los Angeles’ Brentwood area for $3.995M
Actress Teri Garr has listed her house in Los Angeles’ Brentwood area for $3,995,000.
In a Big Time Listings exclusive, we can report on Garr’s listing of her two-bedroom house, which is at 322 S. Chadbourne Avenue in Brentwood. The house just came on the market on Friday.
While we are indeed the first to report on the timing of the listing and the house’s asking price, the fact that Garr is selling her house is not that big of a surprise. That’s because the enormously likable Garr, who sadly suffered a brain aneurysm in 2006 and also in 2002 had announced that she suffers from multiple sclerosis, told the Daily News of Los Angeles in an article that ran on April 21, 2008 (and that was widely distributed via syndication) that ‘the other day, a guy came to fix my computer, and I told him, ‘I’ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is I’ve got to sell my house because I can’t work. The good news is I’m walking.’ He said, ‘I think the good news is much better than the bad news.’ I have to look at it that way.’
Built in 1924 (according to listing information) or 1925 (according to public records), Garr’s 1,658-square-foot house in Brentwood has two bedroom suites (including a master suite that fills the entire second floor), three baths, and an office, according to public records and listing information. Other features include a detached guest house, a rear garden, a pool and a spa, all on a 0.41-acre parcel, according to public records and listing information.
Records show that Garr purchased the house through her One Way Investment Trust in 1992 for $1,455,000.

Poor Terri, moving cause she can’t afford the mortgage, but honey - 4million for a 1,600 sq ft house? I dont think so.

I am glad (purely for MS/health reasons) to see that Teri finally sold this property, although listing in April and selling in June is a fast turnaround. The master bedroom suite was on the second floor, which for MSers is not a great thing.
When one gets to the point where health issues start to compromise employment prospects, it is nice to have a financial cushion to fall back on.
Whether she owes on a mortgage or not, she probably will come out with some cash and cash flow is important when you are an actress who works sporadically because of MS fatigue, other health reasons, providing for her adopted daughter, Molly, etc.
