Actress Melissa McCarthy and her actor husband, Ben Falcone, have sold their four-bedroom, 3,832-square-foot house in The Oaks area of Los Angeles' Los Feliz neighborhood for her $2,495,000 listing price to director Jake Kasdan and his singer-songwriter wife, Inara George. The kicker is that this is the second time in three years that McCarthy has sold a house she owns to Kasdan and George!
We are happy to finally return to blogging after an extended period of minimal to no posts of any kind. As we have mentioned in the past, our output here has continued to be spotty because of other writing projects like this one and this one. But we're happy to get back to catching up on some celebrity real estate items, including those written by others but not yet us. And we have a few exclusives up our sleeve as well! So, back to work:
The Los Angeles Times' Lauren Beale broke the story on July 15 of McCarthy selling the house, which is on Green Oak Drive in The Oaks. However, Beale did not report the identity of the buyers, and we are the first to do so. In addition, we had broken the story back on May 12 of McCarthy's original listing of this house.
Things get weirder from here. Indeed, public records show that this is the second time that Kasdan and George have bought a house from McCarthy; back in 2006, they paid $1,375,000 to buy McCarthy and Falcone's 2,292-square-foot, Dutch Colonial-style house at 1918 Taft Avenue in the Hollywood Hills. That house continues to be owned by Kasdan and George.
Built in 1940, the house on Green Oak Drive in The Oaks has four and a half baths, two offices (which could be additional bedrooms), formal living and dining rooms, a large gourmet kitchen/family room, nine-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, first and second-floor laundry rooms, and French doors, according to public records and listing information. Outdoor features on the 0.21-acre (8,930-square-foot) property include a pool/spa, a flat grassy yard, brick patios, two large second-floor terraces, according to public records and listing information. McCarthy and Falcone purchased the house in 2006 for $2,100,000, according to public records. It's not clear to us yet where the couple are off to; when we find out, we'll of course print it here.
Easily the best early real estate blogger in our book, the former Terra Non Firma blogger Marissa Gluck who now is at Curbed, wrote a nice post for Curbed back on July 20 about Kasdan and George's $1,495,000 listing of the 2,292-square-foot Dutch Colonial on Taft Avenue.
