Actors Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly list their 18-room mansion in Brooklyn, NY’s Park Slope area for $8.5M, reportedly are under contract to purchase a penthouse in Manhattan’s TriBeCa area that had been on the market for $6.995M

Continuing with our effort to catch up on items that everyone else has written about but us, husband-and-wife actors Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly have listed their 18-room, 5,243-square-foot mansion in Brooklyn, N.Y. for $8,500,000, and they reportedly are under contract to purchase a penthouse co-op unit in Manhattan’s TriBeCa area that had been listed for $6,995,000.

We highlighted details on Bettany and Connelly’s nine-bedroom house as part of our “Where in the world is?” feature on January 24. Now, Curbed on Monday broke the story that the couple is under contract to buy the penthouse in the building at 288 West Street in Manhattan’s TriBeCa area. Then, lickety-split, the good people at Brownstoner broke the story later on Monday that the couple wants $8,500,000 for their pad at 17 Prospect Park West in Brooklyn, which they purchased in 2003 through their William & Belinda Shears Trust for $3,700,000, according to public records. Built in 1899, the couple’s mansion in Brooklyn has three full baths, one half bath, oversized windows, original wood carving surrounding the windows and mantels, fireplaces in all the public rooms, a full servant’s quarters on the top floor, original stained and leaded windows in the baths, and a large skylight at the top of the grand staircase, according to public records and listing information. The mansion sits on a minuscule, 2,500-square-foot (0.06-acre) parcel, according to public records.
